Skill Training
A sense of gratitude resonates in the
voices of the youth who are getting
trained through the collaboration
between the National Small Industries
Corporation Limited (NSICL), National
Scheduled Tribes Finance and
Development Corporation (NSTFDC),
and SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant. At the
National Small Industries Corporation
Limited (NSIC), nestled amidst the
verdant landscapes of Rourkela,
individuals like Jatri Kerketta from
Baghdega village find more than just a
classroom; they find a gateway to
Trainees at the beautician training program
empowerment. For Jatri and 15 other
trainees, this two-month course marks a
journey of empowerment. With newfound confidence, Jatri dreams of running her own beauty
parlour efficiently, echoing the sentiments of her peers from resettlement colonies and
peripheral blocks.
With support from NSICL, NSTFDC, and SAIL, the Livelihood Business Incubation Centre in
Sector-15 of Rourkela Steel Plant’s township, becomes a beacon of hope, offering youth from
underprivileged segments opportunities to refine their skills. As RSP continues to sponsor
youth in various trades, the ripple effects of empowerment resonate across communities,
aligning with national goals of skill development and socio-economic upliftment.
An establishment of Livelihood Business Incubation Centre at the Sector-15, Rourkela aims to
enhance income generation opportunities for youth, aligning with the Skill India movement's
objectives of bolstering the nation's skill base. The center facilities the youth to get trained as
assistant electricians or assistant computer operators. Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Mahato from
Nuagaon Block emphasizes, “The training significantly improves my job prospects.” Meanwhile,
Mr. Shyam Mundari adds, “I can now earn independently from home.”
