
Shri Priya Ranjan is a distinguished professional in the steel industry, presently serving as the Executive Director (Works), Bokaro Steel Plant, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). With an illustrious career of more than three decades in SAIL, he has held several senior positions of responsibility, including Executive Director (Operations) at the Corporate Office, New Delhi, as well as various leadership roles in technical operations, production planning, and corporate strategy.
An alumnus, with a B.E. in Metallurgy from BIT Sindri and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Finance as specialization) from IMT Ghaziabad, Mr. Ranjan has seamlessly blended his technical expertise with strong managerial skills. He started his career in non-ferrous Industry and worked in Copper and Copper alloys sector for about 2 years in Mumbai before joining SAIL in 1994 as a Junior Manager in the Steel Melting Shop at ISP, Burnpur, West Bengal. He has worked in areas like Steel Making, Production, Planning & Control, assisted expansion projects in existing Steel Melting Shop as well as upcoming expansion in ISP, Burnpur. He has worked in ED (Works) Secretariat as Technical Advisor and thereafter has been associated with successive Chairman & Managing Directors at Corporate Office, New Delhi. Subsequently, he was ED (Operations) with additional charge of Head of Directorate of Mines and Logistics at Corporate Office, New Delhi. Through dedication, vision, and consistent performance, he has risen through successive positions culminating in his current leadership role.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ranjan has made significant contributions to Steelmaking Processes, Plant Operations, and Organizational Efficiency. During his 7 years stint at Chairman & Managing Director’s Office, he was entrusted to look after all Steel Plants of SAIL, Mines, Collieries, smaller Units and operations at ICVL, Mozambique. He has contributed towards process efficiency, coal blend optimization, raw material security plan, improving mines’ performance, organizing annual business plan of SAIL, etc. His professional interests are deeply rooted in advancing operational excellence, driving innovation, safety, sustainability and aligning production with long-term strategic goals and Company’s vision.
