EDUCATION FOR EQUITY

Education is the cornerstone upon which a robust society is built, offering a multitude of reasons why
it is indispensable. Beyond its fundamental role in imparting knowledge and skills, education serves as
the bedrock for social progress, economic development and environmental sustainability. It
empowers the young with the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance their lives, thereby enabling

them to pursue better opportunities and make meaningful contributions to society. Education also
helps in promoting social equity and it fosters economic development by cultivating an innovative and
productive workforce, thereby benefiting both communities and businesses alike.
As a responsible corporate citizen, SAIL has been making sustainable efforts to achieve inclusive
growth in the regions around its plants and mines. SAIL understands the importance and need for
basic education for as many children as possible. It is
during primary school years that youngsters acquire
the fundamental knowledge and abilities necessary
to navigate the complexities of the world. Through
quality education, children and young people are
empowered; their health and well-being
safeguarded and cycles of poverty disrupted.

SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant’s (RSP) Deepika Ispat
Sikshya Sadan is a beacon of hope and opportunity
for underprivileged children in the region. It is a fully
charitable school set up by SAIL and is run by the
RSP’s Deepika Mahila Sanghati, a leading
philanthropic organization of the Steel City for the
underprivileged children of the Steel Township.
Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan, Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan was established in
a charitable school run by SAIL at Rourkela
2007, and its first batch of students appeared for the
class tenth board examination in 2016. Similar to Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan, SAIL runs several such
schools at its other Plants as well; where we strive to provide quality education to numerous
underprivileged children of the region.

Apart from SAIL run schools, SAIL also aids several schools. These SAIL aided schools offer free
education, computer facilities, science laboratories and sports equipment. There is also provision for
providing school uniforms, winter clothing, school shoes, bags, and other necessary accessories to its
students besides provision of fully furnished school buildings.
